MTMA News and Announcements / June 25th launch: BYO Launch Pads!
« Last post by Guest on June 24, 2016, 03:07:32 PM »
The June 25th launch will be a lightly staffed one, so this means that you should bring your own launch pads  if you plan to launch any rockets!

A couple of officers from MTMA will be around to supervise...

Happy Flying!

Ok so no more snow until at least September...

The weather forecast shows light winds and popup thunderstorms all weekend. We decided to schedule the launch window earlier and a bit shorter, 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Club launch equipment will be available.

If there is a significant change in the forecast, we will let everyone know.

Enjoy the long weekend by flying rockets on Saturday!

MTMA News and Announcements / NO GO for Launch 5/14/2016
« Last post by Guest on May 13, 2016, 12:48:43 AM »
Unfortunately the weather that we usually get in March is arriving this weekend.  The forecast is rain, high winds and low temperatures both days.  Unfortunately, we need to cancel.  The next scheduled launch is the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.  As of now, we are planning a launch, weather permitting.

The wind speed and direction is not favorable for launch Saturday April 23.  Things are more favorable on Sunday, so our next sport launch will be this Sunday, April 24.  Setup starts at 1130, range opens at noon.  I hope to see you there!

The weather forecast is for light winds, and temperatures around 60 degrees, with showers later in the day.

It should be a good day to fly at Harmon Flying Field in Aurora. Be aware of our new start time - range set up at 1130AM, range opens at noon. Hope to see all of you there!

As of now, the weather for Saturday looks favorable for a launch. Rain begins later in the afternoon, and Sunday will not be a good day. However, this is still March in NE Ohio. Expect an update Friday or even Saturday AM regarding GO for Launch.

Found a topic thread on rocketry forum regarding the topic.  Ended up using Sculpy stuff.
Low Power Rocketry & Beginners / Nose Cone Clay
« Last post by Tonyfr on July 23, 2015, 06:44:35 PM »
I finally got around to building my Astron Sprint XL for NARAM.  I put the clay provided in the nose cone for weight. I then got too clever for my own good.  I thought "these clay globs always dry and fall down after a few years and then rattle.  I will put some glue in the nose cone to hold it in place."  I put model glue in the nose cone and suspended it so it would dry around the edge of the clay.  I checked on it the next night and the glue melted the nose cone.   :o

What clay should I use in my replacement nose cone?  My wife offered up some resin clay but I do not want to have the same issue.
